My name is SB and I like to eat. I have many other pleasures in life. Comic books. Binge watching Netflix. Painting my toenails. Cheap romance novels. But my greatest pleasure is eating. And cooking.
But I have a full life.
I work a full-time job. I have a full-time business. I am active in my religious activities as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. I am always running.
And I do not have time to spend in the kitchen.
As much as I would like to slave over multiple pots, inhaling the sweet aroma of freshly simmering sauce and the sound of frying oil, I have stuff to do. My pot runneth over literally and figuratively. But because of my many, many fruit sensitivities and allergies I have to spend time at the stove.
So, let’s make the most of it.
All of my recipes are gluten free. Five years ago, I had a difficult time losing weight. I had a membership to a very popular weight loss company that was not working for me. When I finally dragged my tail to the doctor to find out why I was paying money to get fatter, she told me to get gastric bypass. I was 29 years old. I got a new doctor, a holistic hero, who ran every test possible. Long story short everything I was eating I was allergic to. A large number of the foods that were allowed on the very expensive diet were making me sick. So, I stopped eating them. It wasn’t easy. But it was necessary.
Gluten makes me dumb. Really, really dumb. Not know my own name dumb. Can barely drive dumb. And depressed. So, no recipes on this blog will have gluten. I may not always say gluten-free flour. But I mean it.
All of my recipes are dairy-free. No butter, milk or cream that comes from an animal will be in any recipe on my website. I could tell you why but let’s just say Lactaid cannot help me. it doesn’t alleviate any symptoms. Not a single one. So, no dairy. Period.
All of my recipes are egg-free. This was the hardest allergen to let go. I love eggs. I love it hard. But it does not love me back. among my allergens this is the one that I have the least physical reaction to but I’m not willing to risk my physical or emotional health because I want an omelet or egg drop soup.
All of my recipes are ten ingredients or less and less than an hour to prepare. I don’t have the time or energy to spend all day in the kitchen. And I don’t expect you to either. I promise easy food that you’ll have on the table in less time than it took to shop for the ingredients.
And I promise good food. If I won’t eat it, I won’t post the recipe.
